Dear Unit Leaders,
17th Scouts of the World Award – Discovery Workshop (Online)
Greetings from the Singapore Scout Association (SSA)!
A flagship initiative under WOSM’s Better World Framework, the Scouts of the World Award (SWA) provides young people with opportunities to be engaged in addressing challenges of the future. It aims to empower and engage young people in taking actions of world importance, based on the universal values of freedom, tolerance, equality, respect for nature, and shared responsibilities – criteria also identified by the United Nations in their Sustainable Development Goals.
Using the experiential model of Explore, Respond and Take Action, the Discovery Workshop intends to expose young people to the issues we are facing, both in Singapore and globally. Apart from raising critical awareness on the challenges facing our communities and Singapore’s rich heritage, the workshop also seeks to equip and improve the skill sets of our young people in conducting a Needs Analysis, Project Planning and Development, and experience in Group Facilitation, in preparation for their Voluntary Service projects, which is the second component of the SWA.
For more information regarding SWA, please visit the following link: scout.betterworld.sg/flagship-initiatives/scouts-of-the-world-award/
