CYBERCRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMME FOR TEACHERS

Initiated by the Singapore Police Force (SPF), the National Training Team (NTT) invites all interested leaders to sign up for the course mentioned above.

Scams in Singapore has become the Nation’s leading contributor of criminal activities in the first half of 2022. To combat this trend, the SPF have partnered with the Ministry of Education (MOE) to increase awareness and educate the public on cybercrimes and how to protect themselves from fraudulent activities. This collaboration aims to promote a safer digital environment and counter the rising trend of scams in Singapore.

The UG-wide NPCC Cybercrime Programme Badge has been launched to encourage Uniformed Groups to become advocates against Cybercrime,. Interested schools are to send one UG teacher-in-charge to attend a mandatory online 2-hour training by SPF. Upon completion, teachers will assist in conducting unit-based activities for students to attain the Cybercrime Prevention Badge.

For your convenience, several dates have been made available. Please register for the course by 15 March 2023 via this link: CPP Registration. For more information on the training, kindly refer to Annex A.

For clarifications, please contact Ms Evan Ong, Executive (HR & Training) at evan.ong@scout.org.sg or call 6911 5798 for assistance.

EVERY SCOUT A FARMER / GARDENER BADGE PROJECT

On behalf of the Cub Scout Roundtable (CRST) and MINDS Lee Kong Chian Gardens School (SPED) Scouts and students, we would like to thank you for your support of the pilot run of the ‘Every Scout a Farmer’ / Gardener Badge Project.

We are pleased to announce that the project is back for its second run this year. This project offers individually packaged gardening kits to Cub Scout units for the attainment of the Gardener Badge.

The collaboration aims to provide Special Needs (SN) Scouts and students the opportunity to gain authentic work experience on a community-led project. Through tasks such as packing as well as marketing of packaged products, eg. gardening kits, the collaboration also avails volunteering opportunities for the disadvantaged amongst us. In this way, they too can feel that they can play a part in contributing to society.

SSA strongly encourages the inclusion of neurodiverse individuals in all walks of life, providing opportunities for everyone to be active, contributing members of society and to be accepted for who they are. The Association looks forward to having many more ongoing partnerships that foster inclusivity.

The gardening kit consists of a pack of Kangkong seeds, good quality potting mix, and materials to design a small plaque or signboard which Cubs may use to personalise their mini garden. Each kit also comes with a one-of-a-kind hand- rendered artwork from our SN partners which can be kept by Cubs as a memento. With the completion of the challenge, Cubs would have achieved the Gardener Proficiency Badge.

Please refer to Annex A for more details.

As the quantity of the gardening kits is limited, registration is based on a first-come-first-served basis. Kindly register via MSDS’s Youth Programme registration portal: http://intranet.scout.org.sg by 30 September 2023. Accepted registrations will be duly notified.

Do feel free to contact Ms Emily Ho, Executive (Programme) at emily.ho@scout.org.sg or call us at 62592858 for any clarifications.

The Discovery Workshop exposes young people to global issues that our Earth and Country are facing using an experiential model – to ExploreRespond and Take Action.  Apart from raising awareness on our communities-at-large and rich natural heritage, the workshop seeks to equip youths with development, facilitation, and planning skills in preparation for their Voluntary Service projects.
